Halitosis, commonly known as “bad breath” are general terms used to define unpleasant odors given out while breathing. In many cases, halitosis begins in the mouth itself. The levels of bad breath varies during the day and night. This is because the mouth is subjected to less oxygen during the night and so the odor usually worsens upon awakening the next morning.

There are two types of halitosis:

Transient: This type of halitosis often disappears following flossing, rinsing, brushing etc.

Persistent: This is a serious condition and a chronic case. It has negative effects on an individuals personality leading to stress and low self-esteem.
