It's a well heard of saying that a health body leads to a healthy mind. In the similar way, for a healthy body it is very essential to have a healthy mouth. Oral health is very much necessary for overall health. We often tend to neglect some of the body parts but little do we realize that all body parts are connected to each other in some or the other way and care should be taken to keep them healthy. Even if a single body part gets affected, it affects all the other parts.
- Bad breath, tooth decay and gum diseases are the major dental problems. Thus proper care of the teeth should be taken to avoid all this and get a hygienic and refreshing feel.
- Bid adieu to smoking. You take up the risk of getting throat cancers and gum diseases. People who smoke a lot are prone to deadly diseases like periodontitis. Moreover, due to excessive smoking, medicines fail to show their reaction.

This is mainly caused due to oral inflammation due to bacteria and research shows that this causes an inflammation throughout the body too. This increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes as the arteries get blocked.
- One very major problem that could arise due to dental problems is during pregnancy. Too much of gum diseases may lead to premature delivery and the baby that is born is usually of a very low weight.
- People suffering from diabetes should be very careful of their oral health. Diabetes goes beyond control if the person is suffering from a chronic gum disease. There is a resistance in the insulin, which disturbs the blood sugar control.
- The bacteria that affects the mouth, sometimes gets into the lungs and block it. This causes respiratory problems, also leading to diseases like pneumonia. It's the gum diseases that cause the maximum problem.
- Due to sever gum diseases you may also land up with loosing your teeth. This may lead to mental problems. At the end of the day you tend to feel disgusted seeing yourself in a bad shape without your teeth. Also the stains on your teeth make you feel ugly.
Many of us tend to avoid problems caused due to our mouth. We either feel lazy to visit the dentist or in some cases we feel that the problem is too minor to be cared too much. Some may not even realize that they are undergoing sever oral problem which could affect their overall health. But the truth remains that, if oral problems are neglected, it is a serious cause of concern for our overall health. It's never too late to take care of our mouth.
