One should take care to prevent tooth enamel loss. As this could be worn away due to various causes such as drinking acidic and carbonated fluids, high consumption of sugary foods and fluids, harsh or over excessive brushing, grinding, drinking soda, smoking, etc. Thus, once the enamel is worn away, tooth becomes extremely sensitive to cold and hot foods and cause pain.   1. Use gentle back and forth movements to clean the teeth and gum area while you brush your teeth.

  3. Avoid eating teeth damaging foods, like candy bars and popcorn kernels, sparingly.
  4. Avoid crunching ice cubes as they can also crack and damage your teeth.
  5. Avoid carbonated drinks as they can erode the tooth enamel. Instead, try switching to those non-carbonated drinks and beverages with very low sugar content.
  6. Use the teeth only to chew the food. Avoid chewing pen caps, cracking nut shells, tearing off the clothing tags as they can crack the enamel of the tooth.
  7. Don’t grind or clinch teeth. This pressure from the grinding or clinching could add an additional pressure of 250 pounds per square inch of your teeth.
  8. If you have a habit of grinding at night, then consult your dentists for the possible prevention such as mouth guard fitting.
  9. Never ignore any health problems. Because some health problems or stomach conditions like the gastrointestinal refluxes could erode the tooth enamel.
