Teeth whitening kits are helpful in cleaning and whitening the brown and yellow colored teeth.There are many teeth whitening agents or products available in the market. But, they have both advantages and disadvantages.

  • It helps to correct brown, yellow, and even mottle stained teeth by the regular use of teeth whitening agents following the instructions given by the dentist.
  • These procedure are now being well established and are relatively safe if performed in a correct technique.
  • It is non-invasive. Because it doesn’t involve removal or drilling of the tooth surface. Thus. It is commonly painless.
  • It is used to treat the discoloration of tooth caused either by the food discoloration, natural color, smoking or aging effects.
  • No major problems or side effects associated with teeth whitening. Except, for few temporary sensitivities and discomfort.

Disadvantages of teeth whitening:

  • There have been very limited reports of sensitive teeth either to cold foods or weather during or after the treatment.
  • There can be development of some of the gum problems like sensitivity during the treatment.
  • They can also develop sore gums or throats especially during the treatment . But, this condition is temporary.
  • The trays for cleaning the teeth may not fit every individual, thus it reduces its effectiveness.
  • If gel is used in the treatment, then that may come in contact with the gums and can cause pain and irritation.
  • Results for the treatment of teeth whitening vary greatly based on the types, brand and the individual.
  • Excessive treatments can wear your teeth.
  • Professional whitening treatments are very expensive.
  • There are a high risk of developing swelling, cankers and blisters on lips

Teeth whitening kits should be used only after the dentist prescription and one needs to follow the instruction carefully.
